I wrote and illustrated The Straw-Haired Girl as a Christmas
gift for a dear friend of mine. Since she hates cold weather and enjoys
abominable beasts, I created a tale about an evil winter wherein a
little girl is kidnapped by yetis. The
character is raised by birds and then left to find her family during a
confusing shift of seasons. It's a fairytale and very idyllic,
but the kind of thing I love to read out loud. The fox has a gruff cockney voice that one
just has to hear. I'm working on an audio-drama
version as well. It just feels great to have had something published that isn't related to photos. |
